When it comes to Kyla and Evan, it was love at first email– for me that is! I remember reading Kyla’s initial inquiry and thinking, “Wow, she’s so sweet!” And after a few more emails the positive energy she exuded was undeniable. Kyla referred to Evan as her “love” and told me how they were high school sweethearts who met on a mission trip. They planned to be married at Evan’s adorable home church and I knew I just had to shoot their wedding!

We planned a Charlotte engagement session and that was when I met Kyla and Evan in person for the first time. It truly felt like I was meeting up with family! We talked about wedding plans but spent a good deal of time on the topic of football. It was destiny, obviously. Anyone who knows me knows I LOVE football– and so do Kyla and Evan (Go Panthers!). It was a match made in pigskin heaven. As luck would have it, the weather didn’t really cooperate so we actually had a second round of engagement photos when I went back to Charlotte a few months later for Kyla’s family photos and bridal portraits. It was a blessing to spend more time with them.

I know wedding photographers always gush about loving this job (I do it all the time), but it’s hard not to when photography brings people like Kyla and Evan into your life. They are a remarkable, generous, kind and compassionate couple. Kyla is an elementary school teacher and Evan is studying at Wake Forest’s School of Divinity. These two will spend their lives serving God and their community and I couldn’t be more honored to consider them my friends.

It is my hope that these wedding images will always be a reminder of their amazing day and the love they share not only with each other, but with their friends and family.

p.s. Let it be noted that I have never in my life heard so much One Direction at a wedding reception. Let it also be noted that it was one of the BEST receptions I’ve ever experienced. Seriously!!
