It’s no secret I’ve fallen in love with North Carolina since we moved here almost 5 years ago. The beauty of this state never ceases to amaze and inspire me. Sadly, Hurricane Florence has caused immense destruction across eastern North Carolina, leaving the landscape bruised and battered. Even worse off than the land are the Carolinians who lost their homes and worldly possessions. It is truly heartbreaking and every day since Florence made landfall I’ve prayed for those suffering and the ones who lost their lives. We will never forget what this hurricane has done but I am so proud of how the communities impacted have rallied and supported each other. #CarolinaStrong is more than a hashtag— it’s become a battle cry backed up by action and compassion.
