It’s no secret I love to travel, especially to shoot weddings. So when Susana asked if I’d fly out to Texas for her big day, I was thrilled! She and Ronnie were married at The Big White Barn in Decatur, just outside Fort Worth. It was an area of Texas I had not visited before and it just made me fall in love with the Lone Star State even more!
I met Susana almost 10 years ago in a southern California casino, where we were both attending a Pat Green concert. If you don’t know who Pat Green is, you definitely need to go listen to some of his music! It’s Texas country at it’s finest and I dare you to not fall in love with his sound! Susana and I bonded in that casino over our love for Pat Green and we had the best time playing roulette and partaking in some shenanigans. Honestly, I think I had way too much to drink that night because much of it is a faded memory– BUT I did make a wonderful friend in Suzy. She was an active duty Marine at the time and our lives took different paths. Fortunately social media kept us connected and we were able to stay in touch.
Through Facebook and Instagram I followed Suzy and Ronnie’s love story. It made me so happy to see her completely smitten and utterly adored in return. The pair had actually dated years ago and God’s timing was just right when the two of them reunited. It was a match decided long before either of them even knew.
I walked into the bridal suite at The Big White Barn a little nervous– after all, I hadn’t seen Suzy in person in almost a decade! And I had never even met Ronnie! But as soon as I saw Suzy and hugged her, it was like we had been hanging out every day for the past several years. Our connection was natural and genuine, just like that night in the casino. It was an added bonus that every single lady in the bridal party was just as awesome, fun and welcoming. It’s kind of hard not to feel at ease when you walk into a room full of girls getting ready with Cardi B. streaming!
And let me tell you about Ronnie. He is just the sweetest! I knew instantly I could cut up with him just like he was my brother or cousin. I was so happy to have captured genuine smiles from him and real laughter between him and his groomsmen. Not to mention he ROCKED the heck out of that true Texan style!
Suzy and Ronnie’s wedding day was one filled with passion, and love and so many blessings. I truly believe they were designed for each other and their union is one written in the stars by God. Thank you, Mr. and Mrs. Smith, for picking ME to write this part of your love story! I am so excited to see what the future has in store for you!
