With Mother’s Day just a week away, I’m feeling pretty emotional since my mom is in CA and I’m all the way over here in NC. Luckily I’ll get to see her in a few weeks when I head west for business and a little R&R. But that doesn’t mean I’m not missing her like crazy right now. My mom and I have always been really close and she’s been my biggest cheerleader in life. The last decade has been extremely tough as she’s battled some serious health issues that keep my family constantly worried and nervous. I’m not quite sure how I’d get by in this life without my mom but I am thankful for all she’s done and for the beautiful memories I have as her daughter. One thing I do wish is that there were more photos of her with us kids. My mom always hoarded photos but there aren’t enough of her. And in 30+ years my family has only ever taken ONE official family photo. It’s totally tragic and makes me really sad.

And for that reason, I’ve decided to give one deserving mom a perfect Mother’s Day gift– a family photo session!  Let’s hear it for mom, huh? I won’t even attempt to explain why this is important for mothers, but we all know it’s well deserved.

Do you know an amazing mom who could use some updated family photos? E-mail me right now at aliciaqphotography@gmail.com and tell me who you are nominating and why. You can nominate yourself, your best friend, your neighbor, sister, a friend from church– anyone! Just make sure you’ll be able to provide me with her contact information so I can reach out to the winner once she’s chosen. Pretty easy, right?

And now for the nitty gritty. The winning session will take place in the Jacksonville, NC area OR in North San Diego County in CA– so please only nominate someone who can travel to these places for the session. The session will take place in 2015 and the date will be dependent upon my availability. The session has no cash value. The session will be 30 minutes long and the winner will receive 10-15 fully retouched images sent via digital download with a print release. I will select a winner based on the entries received. Please don’t send mean emails if the mom you nominate does not win. I wish I could photograph everyone for free but that’s just not possible 🙁

The deadline for entries is Saturday, May 9th at 12 noon eastern. I will announce the winner on Mother’s Day sometime in the afternoon.
