As a North Carolina Wedding Photographer, clients often ask me, “How many black and white images versus color images will I receive?” And truthfully, there is no standard answer. It’s a decision I usually make while culling and editing a session or wedding. Sometimes an image just screams, “Convert me to black and white!” Other times I offer an image in both color and black and white because I love both versions. So, you see, it’s totally an artistic decision based on emotions and aesthetics.
This month’s blog circle theme is “Black and White” so I thought I’d share some images from an engagement session that I’ve yet to post here. Be sure to keep in mind that converting an image to black and white is NOT a quick fix to remedy a poorly lit, poorly composed shot. No, you cannot turn an out of focus photo into something amazing by simply clicking a button. In fact, converting an image to black and white is more complex than it seems. It’s an intricate process that starts with a gorgeous image to begin with– case and point, these I’m sharing now. Take a peek and let me know, what do you prefer, color or black and white?
After you’re done checking out this post, please head on over to my friend and San Diego Photographer Kristina Elizabeth Photography‘s blog and see her take on this month’s theme.
Enjoy!
